Mapping Winnipeg is a community-based digital project that explores the stories behind Winnipeg’s streets.
The idea for this project came from a simple curiosity. Different areas in Winnipeg often feel very different in character, but it can be surprisingly difficult to find clear and accessible information about their history. Many of these stories exist in archives, libraries, or personal memory, but are not easy to discover in one place.
This project aims to bring those scattered pieces together into a single, accessible platform. It also encourages community contributions, allowing people to share their own knowledge and connections to the city.
Mapping Winnipeg is not only about documenting streets, but also about understanding how history, place, and community shape the city we experience today.
